Hi,

We are receiving more and more questions regarding FMD and if we plan on introducing an FMD module into our tracking system? The short reply is yes.

The more complicated question is what is exactly required? We are receiving mixed replies from Trusts who have spoken to us on this subject the past few weeks so I thought it would be a great opportunity to have an open talk where we can get some honest feedback on your requirements and weather this is something you'd like to see built into PTS5.

We welcome all feedback on this subject.

Thanks
Stephen

Hi Stephen

Our current Pharmacy software provider has offered a product at a premium price, we really need something which is easy and quick to use and in my view stand alone from our procurement dispensing systems. The actual physical numbers of packs which may need decommissioning is in an order of one million packs per year for a medium sized DGH. Any system needs to be able to cope with this order of magnitude in a reasonable time frame.

Hi Neil,

What we're after is knowing if you require a solution that is a simple stand-alone application that lets you verify / dispense etc. or if you would be after something that integrates with PTS; something along the lines of this sort of workflow:

1) Prescription booked into PTS and advanced through dispensing process normally.
2) When the actual packs of drugs are available to be dispensed against a prescription the user scans user -> prescription -> FMD Barcode. This will verify the drug & if successfully verified add them to the list of drugs for the prescription.
3) At some point in the process (when the prescription's status is 'complete') PTS will mark each FMD Drug on a prescription as Dispensed.
4) Users will have the option when looking at the Drugs in PTS to perform other operations on the Drugs (mark as sample / destroyed / stolen etc).

Be very interested in any feedback!

Thanks

Hi Chris

Not sure that would work in the hospital situation, all the local trusts I know of plan to decommission on receipt not at the point of issuing to patients.

A stand alone system would be preferential for us but with the same functionality of marking products as sample/destroyed/decommissioned etc etc.

Hi Chris,
The plan here will be to decommission on receipt of the medicines so this won't be required during the dispensing phase.
Thanks,
Pamela

Hi All,

As we hold a WDA license we would be validating on receipt & decommissioning on the point of issue, depending on the location. We cannot decommission for some of our customers, some we can under article 23.

I would see massive advantages to having it linked to the linked into the PTS as it we could then go into knowing which patients/locations had which batch number for product recall purposes. It could also mean that we could easily identify which drugs errors are being made against.

in my opinion a linked system would be best but a standalone may be the quicker solution.

I was going to say the same as Simon above. We have a WDL at one site, which means we cannot decommission for anything on receipt on that site as we don't know the destination of the item, so we would need to do it on issue there. It makes sense as you are already scanning items for the tracker at that stage for the tracker to take some of that information and make it available to use for other purposes.
The non-WDL site we plan to verify and decommission on receipt, which makes things nice and easy.
It could certainly be worth exploring an integrated solution with PTS though in any case, as the information about the drug could be reported on for a variety of reasons.

Hi Stephen,
we would also only look at decommissioning on receipt is this an option you would consider even as a standalone option? Do you think you would have something ready and rolled out by February?

Thanks

We are looking to hold a small discussion / meeting group regarding the development of our FMD application. This would be an open group held at our office in Dudley.

looking at either the 6th or 7th November. Would there be much of an appetite for such a meeting? Understanding that this is short notice however we are keen to start development due to the tight deadlines.

Thanks

Hi Stephen, will you be doing a demo of scanners \ FMD compliant equipment at this? Or is this about the application only?

can you also kindly send me details on your FMD module, like most trusts we would also like to decommission on receipt.

Interesting demo! Quick question, can you dual use existing tracking scanners to scan for FMD use.

This is a tricky one! yes and no.

There are a couple of assumptions here, I'm assuming that your current scanners are not 2D, if this is the case then you'd need 2D scanners.

Assuming you have 2D scanners, you'll still not be able to use them with PTS & FMD at the same time at the moment. (this doesn't sound like much help does it!) BUT we are building an integrated version of our FMD software into PTS, this will allow the 2D scanners to be used with PTS and FMD at the same time via our updated comms software.

It's also worth noting that our comms software only works with a number of scanners, Please don't rush out and buy 'any' 2D scanners.

Thanks

Morning,

With daily requests for a demo of our FMD software, we have decided to hold two demo sessions at our office in Dudley on the 22nd January. One morning and one afternoon session. We are expecting the sessions to run for approx 2-3 hours.

Numbers are limited to 12 per session. If it proves popular we may be able to squeeze in a 2nd date but at the moment only the 22nd is booked.

Drop myself or sales@tmsinsight.com an email to book your place.

Thanks
Stephen
